If you don't mind getting dripping wet, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cascade River; you'll discover a charming lake called Echo Lake. From a rainfall point of view Bannick Lake is a quite common place; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. If you need a place to stay Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains is a splendid choice, and do check out Rug Lake,

nearby, and going for a hike along the North Shore State Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this vicinity. Through the summer highs here at Bannick Lake reach the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures
dip down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 10's; winter nights come with lows in the-10's to Bannick Lake.
If you're here at Bannick Lake, do take a journey to Brule Bay; Cascade River is a
wonderful whitewater spot nearby. This lake is so wonderful. If the weather is wonderful here at Bannick Lake, you can go for a hike along the South Lake Portage, and you can never get enough of the good skiing at Lutsen.

I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
