If you need a place to stay Caribou Highlands Lodge is a pleasant choice; a nice place for whitewater paddling is Poplar River. For the period of the warmest time of the year highs here at Back Lake reach the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Highs during the winter are commonly in the 10's with temperatures at Back Lake dipping down into the-10's through winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. Near Back Lake

| | you hit upon the Pine Portage which is a great hiking trail. Back Lake gets a common amount of rain; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain, and the driest month of the year is February.
