The snow is brilliant at Lutsen; going for a hike along the Height of Land Portage will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Axe Lake; of all the months in a year August is the one with the most rain while February is typically the driest month. This is a nice vicinity

Two Island Lake Campground
 | 16 miles away I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
