If you came for an overnight stay Eveleth Veteran's Park is a fine site to camp, and Lake Augusta is not the only spot nearby, Crystal Lake is a nearby lake. Lake Augusta is pretty arid mostly; the month of June is the wettest with most of the rain while February is regularly the driest month. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Eveleth, and a lake close by is Central Lakes.

| | no such thing as a bad day of skiing at close by Giants Ridge. At Lake Augusta through the warm days of summer highs are in the 70's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are generally in the 10's with winter lows in the-10's overnight here at Lake Augusta. Here at Lake Augusta there are plenty of people from Duluth, and paddling on St. Louis River is so much fun.

The river is at least 100 miles long. I've paddled from Katherine Lake to the St. Louis River and there is plenty of river to paddle besides the section from US 53 to US 2. The top section, from Katherine Lake to Lake Co #2 is an especially wild ride, and I've only done it once, but the drop is incredible, sometimes like a logging flume.... |
