And that's not all you can do here at Lake Andrew. If you get bored of Lake Andrew, you could also go to nearby Long Lake. It is very arid here at Lake Andrew usually; through the month of June you get the most rain around here, and February on the  
   other hand is the driest.
L Motel and RV Park is a magnificent local campground, and if you're visiting from Alexandria, you won't be the only one. This lake is so wonderful. Viking Motel is a wonderful campground nearby, and why not spend some time golfing at a nearby golf course like Rodina Golf Course. The slopes of Andes Tower Hill are so inviting noone can resist, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn Alexandria, Mn.
Summertime at Lake Andrew

Lake Rachel
Rachel is a nice little sping-fed lake. Great water clarity (10 feet or so) and minimal boat traffic, so it's really peaceful and serene out there. You'll find excellent northern fishing - very abundant. Walleyes are hard to come by, but every once in a while you'll get one. The public access is tough to use - not a lot of space to turn around or to park. The shoreline is heavily wooded and lightly to moderately developed. It doesn't really feel like a west-central MN lake...feels more ''up north''. Only a handful of people live out there full-time. Most are cabins that get weekend use. No resorts, although there used to be one on ''the island''. This lake rose several feet in the 80s due to heavy rains and so there are a few stands of flooded timber, but actually that helps provide structure for fish and their spawning. Anyway, if you're looking for peace and quiet, check out Lake Rachel. It's Douglas County's best kept secret....
