The skiing at Lutsen is delightful; whitewater paddling is tremendous on Cascade River. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes? Sure, Creeper Lake is in close proximity, and if you came to camp Gunflint Pines is a delightful location to do that. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors The Mountain Inn is a great site to spend a night or two, and if the weather is splendid, you can go for a hike along the Rib Lake Trail.

A wonderful close by hotel is Eagle Ridge Resort at Lutsen Mountains, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always pop by nearby Beta Lake. Alpha Lake is great enough to spend more than a day at, Cascade River Campground is a great local campground, and you can have a great hiking adventure along the Height of Land Portage. a hike along the South Lake Portage, and in case you don’t mind getting covered with water, you can always go whitewater paddling on Cascade River.

Two Island Lake Campground

I have only been there in the winter waiting for the mushers to come through (for the Beargease Marathon), it is where I want my ashes to be. I missed one year of the Beargrease race (1998) but the next year I was there at Two Island it was a full moon and it was snowing at the same time, could see down the trail like it was daylight but it was snowing....that was my sign...like I didn't fall in love with it before...this is a beautiful place, small camground but nice in the summer. jkf... |
