Summertime at Lake Alf arrives with high temperatures in the 70's, and through the night it cools down to the 40's. All through the winter this place gets highs in the 10's while the cold winter nights at Lake Alf are in the-20's. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is splendid on Vermilion River. There's so much to do here at Lake Alf that you need to camp here for a while, Hinsdale Island Campground is a perfect       place for that. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of nearby Giants Ridge; going for a hike on the Beatty Portage is always a nice adventure. Go for a hike on the Taconite Trail; if you came to camp Lake Jeanette Campground is a good place to do that. An average amount of rain falls at Lake Alf; during the month of June you get the most rain around here while February is regularly the driest month.
