There's whitewater on Pine River for all you adrenaline people. This is a pleasant area for folks who like lakes. Carpenter Lake is a lake in close proximity; why not take a refreshing hike along the Lincoln Mills Snowmobile Trail. There's so much to do here at Lake of the Woods that you need to camp here for a while, Burton Trailer Park is a glorious place for that, and there's       some flowing water nearby, Burkett Creek is a stream you can check out while you're here. A nice close by hotel is Driftwood Lodge, and there's delightful hiking along the Caberfae Way Snowmobile Trail. If you go for the outdoors, you'll love Lake of the Woods. You'll need more than a day to discover everything Lake of the Woods has to offer, you can camp at Mesick Trailer Park, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend                  Boardman River. This lake is so wonderful. You're sure to bump into some cheerful folks from Traverse City here, and the McKenzie Ski Trail offers hiking at its best. The amount of rain that falls at Lake of the Woods is close to the national average; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February. If you need a place to stay Pine Chata Family Resort is a tremendous choice, and Caberfae Peaks has magnificent slopes and a friendly staff. Summertime highs at Lake of the Woods generally tend to be in the 80's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's.
