This lake is so wonderful. A wonderful nearby hotel is Courtyard Traverse City; Cedar Lake is a nearby lake that you could pop by. Summertime at Whelock Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The cold days of the winter come with highs in       the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 10's to Whelock Lake. The annual precipitation here at Whelock Lake is about average; during September this area sees the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. Yep, outdoors exciting stuff to do are truly plentiful here at Whelock Lake. Fairfield Inn & Suites Traverse City is a great location to get some rest, and Cycle-Moore is a great local campground. An afternoon playing golf at Evergreen                  Golf Course is always a diversion, and Whelock Lake is a tremendous place to visit for more than one day, Leelanau Pines is a tremendous place to camp nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Whitewater paddling is not for everyone but if it's for you then we recommend Boardman River, and Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is a very wonderful location to visit.
