Pine River is a magnificent whitewater spot in the neighborhood of Wells Lake, and if you came for an overnight stay Beaver Lake Camp Grounds is a magnificent location to camp. What would winter be without some skiing at Caberfae Peaks, and Wells Lake is not far at all from Cadillac. Lakes are such peaceful spots, why not stop by Bass Lake near Wells Lake, and why not camp at Hammarstead Lake Camp Ground while you're here at Wells Lake. This lake is so wonderful.

We had picked the pine river to canoe in the summer of 2004 and were told a good rustic campground would be a good choice. As it turned out it was by far the best camp site I had ever stayed in and had a great time. Our site happened to be next to the river with a great view, secluded and close to the river. I would highly recommend this campground for access to the pine river. Great canoeing, kayaking, fishing, etc. swimming... |

Actually, the best paddling on the Pine River is below Lincoln, and especially in the section from Dobson Bridge to Low Bridge (approximately 21 miles). there are numerous CI rapids from about 20 minutes US from Dobson to about 20 minutes US from Low Bridge. Unfortunately, due to livery traffic the river is kept cleared to excess. Most of the leaning trees and logjams that make padding interesting have been removed so the drunken rental boat paddlers don't get into trouble.... |
