Byers Lake is close by. Grassy Creek is right next door to Upper Lake and is always a pleasure to check out, and you can go for a hike on the Haywire Grade ORV Trail. Going for a hike on the Big Island Lake Portage Canoe Trail is always a nice adventure, and a great place to camp here at Upper Lake is Wide Water Campground. All through the summer highs here at Upper       Lake get into the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the 50's. During the winter highs are in the 20's while Upper Lake overnight low temperatures all through the winter are in the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Comfort Inn Munising is a nice choice; camping is available at Island Lake Campground. Life's too short to enjoy all the entertaining stuff next to Upper Lake.
