I am 71 years old now and spent my 10 to 20 years old summers at Barlow lake. Visited there a couple of years ago after not being there for 40 years and found an old friend still living there - Al (Alfie) Lewis living at the old mill....

Bittersweet
19 miles away Bittersweet has enormous snow-making capacity and is consistently the first to open in SW Michigan. Their vertical is only 350 ft, but that's about 100 more than any other resort in SW Michigan. As noted, their lift system is impressive, particularly the high speed detachable quad, but lines can get a little long on late December weekends. Their terrain park has a good variety of boxes, jumps, etc. Very friendly people....Yea you guys rock i love the snow...Ahh yes, Bittersweet Ski Area... Michigan skiing at it's very best. The drops in these part of the country are not that impressive but I think Bittersweet makes the most of it. I do recommend this ski area....
Cannonsburg
25 miles away This is like a local little ski hill but places like Cannonsburg are good when you really gotta go skiing for a few hours. It's not like Colorado but it's nice to get your ski muscles warmed up a bit and suck in some refreshing winter air....
