     Float down the rapids of Peshekee River in a kayak, and of course, this is a nice region for people who like lakes, Middle Lake is a lake close by. Stay the night at Michigamme Shores Campground, and you're possibly into lakes, Beaufort Lake is one of those nearby. This lake is so wonderful. Get soaked paddling on Michigamme River; a magnificent close by hotel is Best Western Baraga Lakeside Inn.

Craig Lake
This was a great time. A buddy of mine and I grabbed the canoe, tent, and fishing gear and headed out for a week. We overpacked, which made the reasonable portage quite difficult, though. After all the work, we were rewarded with a secluded island camp site about 30 minutes paddle from where we put in. I recommend this lake to anyone that likes to camp or fish. We caught a large number of Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass while we were there, and were quite sad to leave. However, Bring bug repellent.....The horseflies during the day strike fear into the hearts of most mortal men and you can skin the mosquitos to make a coat....

Peshekee River
I have loved the Peshekee for over 63 years, watching rocks appear and disappear with the seasons. It's a special day when kayakers also appear, usually in early spring. I'm afraid the time for good kayaking is over for this year. Sorry! By the way, there are plenty of good motels in Marquette. ...
