Near Torch Lake you stumble on a golf course called Calumet Golf Course, and there are some perfect whitewater spots on Gratiot River. This lake is so wonderful. If you need a place to stay Budget Host Inn Houghton is a great choice; Torch Lake is not the only place close by, Calumet Lake is a close by lake. Torch Lake is a good location of common rain; the month with most of the snow is January, and the       driest month is April. Summertime brings highs in the 70's to Torch Lake with overnight lows in the 50's. Through the winter this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at Torch Lake dipping down into the 0's through winter nights. There's whitewater on Eagle River for all you thrill seekers; camping at Hancock Recreation Area is always a fine experience. This lake is so wonderful. Dry warm beds await you at Americinn - Calumet, Mi, and a journey                  to Isle Royale National Park is worthwhile.
