While you're here at Todd Lake you will meet lots of folks from close by Big Rapids, and you can run the rapids of Pine River. Austin Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to, and why not take a little spree to Indian Creek if you're here. From a rain point of view Todd Lake is a quite normal place; most of the rain falls during September, and February is the month with the least moisture. This lake is so wonderful.

| | 8 Big Rapids MI is a brilliant choice, and do take a look at Lincoln Lake, it's a picturesque lake. That right there is loads already, but it carries on; Todd Lake has it all. Golf can be played at Spring Valley Golf Course; you can stay the night at Hammarstead Lake Camp Ground. Dry warm beds await you at Super 8 Motel - Evart, Mi, and if the weather is magnificent, you can go for a hike along the Hungerford Cross Country Ski Trail.

We had picked the pine river to canoe in the summer of 2004 and were told a good rustic campground would be a good choice. As it turned out it was by far the best camp site I had ever stayed in and had a great time. Our site happened to be next to the river with a great view, secluded and close to the river. I would highly recommend this campground for access to the pine river. Great canoeing, kayaking, fishing, etc. swimming... |

Actually, the best paddling on the Pine River is below Lincoln, and especially in the section from Dobson Bridge to Low Bridge (approximately 21 miles). there are numerous CI rapids from about 20 minutes US from Dobson to about 20 minutes US from Low Bridge. Unfortunately, due to livery traffic the river is kept cleared to excess. Most of the leaning trees and logjams that make padding interesting have been removed so the drunken rental boat paddlers don't get into trouble.... |
