Lake Thumb is a good place to visit for more than one day, Gaylord Campground is a good place to camp nearby, and Bows Lake is a wonderful lake close by. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Wolverine Camps, and Quality Inn Gaylord is a splendid spot to get some rest. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Boyne Mountain, and if you need a place to stay Holiday Inn Express GAYLORD is a       good choice. Be careful coming to Lake Thumb, you might not ever wanna return home again. There are other locations here than Lake Thumb, for example Standard Lake; paddling on Sturgeon River is so much fun. Summertime at Lake Thumb comes with high temperatures in the 70's. Once the sun is down it falls down to the 50's. All through the winter the highs are usually in the 20's with temperatures at Lake Thumb dipping down into the 10's throughout winter nights.                  An average amount of precipitation falls at Lake Thumb; the wettest month of the year is generally September, that's the one that rains the most while February is ordinarily the driest month.
