Near South Lake you come across the Honeymoon Lake Snowmobile Trail which is a wonderful hiking trail, and after a long day outdoors Holiday Inn BIG RAPIDS is a wonderful spot to spend a night or two. The annual precipitation here at South Lake is about average; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most       rain, and February is when it's the driest. Man, is there plenty of cool things to do next to South Lake. Whitewater paddling is great on Pine River, and of course Little South Branch Pere Marquette River is a beautiful stream that is worth a visit. The warmest time of the year at South Lake comes with high temperatures in the 80's while overnight lows are typically in the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are usually in the 20's, and during the dark hours                  in the wintertime at South Lake temperatures dip to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Camping at Whispering Oaks Campground and Cabins is always a good experience; you'll find a charming lake called Little Lake Number Two.
