Silver Lake is a very beautiful lake in beautiful surroundings. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 70's to Silver Lake. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are mostly in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the wintertime at Silver Lake temperatures plunge to the-10's. | | February. This lake is so wonderful. It's a wonderful idea to take a look at Squaw Creek, it's in close proximity to Silver Lake, and a good place to camp here at Silver Lake is Michigamme Shores Campground.
Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Michigamme River, and not far from Silver Lake you'll discover Floodwood Lakes which is a striking lake. This spot rules, just look at all the fun stuff to do close to Silver | |

Paint River

I just took a 30 mile trip down this river with a group of 6 and three canoes. I thought it was great overall. There are a few shallow spots where we had to get out of the boat and pull it through the water but otherwise the depth is good. As far as the quote ''pretty good campgrounds'' go, these were not easily found but can be set up in the less dense forests alongside the water. The stretch over the hemlock rapids is a bit difficult on the lower hemlock but the upper is an exciting though slightly wet ride. The overall current throughout the river is not too fast so some paddling is needed. Thats about it, this is a great river. The scenery is beautiful, and if your staying overnight the stars are miraculous, so enjoy the view. If your in the trees alot watch out for ticks, (they found me well) but other than that, enjoy the ride.... |
