Side Lake gets a typical amount of yearly rainfall; most of the rain falls throughout September, and February is when it's the driest. A brilliant nearby hotel is Northwoods Retreat; Side Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Hovey Lake Campground is a good local campground. All through the long summer days at Side Lake highs are frequently in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures dip down into the       50's. During the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's with temperatures at Side Lake dipping down into the 0's during winter nights. This lake is so wonderful. After a long day outdoors Munising - Days Inn is a splendid site to spend a night or two, and the vistas at Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore will blow your mind. The best way to spend a winter day is on the slopes of close by Gladstone Ski Park, and there is a fine hiking trail nearby called                  the Bay De Noe Grand Island Trail. Near Side Lake you hit upon the Haymeadow Falls Trail which is a perfect hiking trail. Whohoo, so many entertaining things in one place! Side Lake is peerless! Going for a hike on the Addis Lakes Ski Trail is always a great adventure; you're probably addicted to lakes, Bass Lake is one of those close by.
