A perfect nearby hotel is Paradise Hollow Resort. There's so much to do here at Shell Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Leelanau Pines is a glorious place for that. Shell Lake is a good location of common rain; September is the month that gets the most rain, and February is the month with the least moisture. What a place this is for outdoors people. Playing golf is lots of fun at King's Challenge       Golf Club, and Shell Lake is not far at all from Traverse City. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Shell Lake has to offer, you can camp at Lime Lake Campground, and do pay a visit to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore since you're here at Shell Lake. At Shell Lake through the days of summer highs are in the 70's. For the period of the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's. The winter brings highs down to the 20's, and during                  the dark hours in the winter at Shell Lake temperatures descend to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful. Nearby lakes?
