Marsh Creek is one of the streams nearby that might be worth visiting, and obviously, this is a magnificent area for people who like lakes, Lake David is a lake nearby. All through the summer at Shamrock Lake highs are usually in the 80's. Summer overnight lows descend down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and night lows all through the wintertime for Shamrock Lake tend to be in the 0's. Lyons Landing & Travel Trailer is a good campground

Here at Shamrock Lake there are plenty of folks from Alpena, and since you might be in a lake visiting mood you can always explore close by Shear Lake. This lake is so wonderful. Stay the night at Mio Pine Acres Campground, and in the vicinity of Shamrock Lake you hit upon a golf course called Cedar Valley Golf Club. | |

Island Lake
 | I have fished this lake for bluegills and have had great success. Some of the bluegills were 9 1/2 inches long. The water is very clear requiring 2 to 4 pound test line. Use half crawler with a small hook, #6, with a small split shot or at times no weight. Fish the deeper water by drifting until you find the fish then anchor. There are largemouth bass in this lake but they run undersize at around 11 to 12 inches. I used an electric motor to get around. The lake is small enough that you can row with your oars. During the spawning season,mid June, I fished the shoreline around the lake and caught the gills on their spawning beds. I have limited out many days fishing this lake with some nice size bluegills. I hand launched a boat at the camp ground there which charges a daily fee and parked in the parking lot.... |

I was just at Cranberry Lake on July 7, 2007. It was beautiful. I went fishing and caught many fish. I also went jet sking, paddle-boating, on a pontoon boat and fished off the dock. The view was amaizing, espcially the sunset. I loved it here and can't wait to come back.... |
