Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Ford River. This lake is so wonderful. A glorious nearby hotel is Best Western Pioneer Inn & Suites, and why not a little side journey to Pine Creek. Second Lake is a good spot of       normal rain; all through the month of August you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is February. What a place this is for outdoors folks. You'll need more than a day to explore everything Second Lake has to offer, you can camp at Brevort Lake Campground - Hiawatha National Forest, and First Lake is a nearby lake that you could visit. A lake close by is Little Pine Lake, and hey, Gotta ski right? Gladstone Ski Park is a good site to                  do that. If you need a spot to stay Comfort Suites Escanaba is a good choice; there's whitewater on Escanaba River for all you adrenaline kick people. High temperatures at Second Lake through the summertime are in the 80's. Throughout the dark hours of summer temperatures sink down into the 50's.
