Camping at Whispering Valley Campground is always a fine experience; Escanaba River is a glorious whitewater spot close by. But wait, there's more to do close to Schaawe Alek. There's perfect hiking along the Bay De Noe Grand Island Trail; why not head up to Gladstone Ski Park and strap some skis to your feet. Good hiking is available along the Haymeadow Falls Trail. An       average amount of rainfall falls at Schaawe Alek; the month with most of the rain is September, and February is the month with the least moisture. Escanaba-Days Inn is a tremendous spot to get some rest, and why not a little side tour to Black George Creek. At Schaawe Alek through the warm months highs are in the 70's. When the night sets in temperatures plunge down into the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's, and night lows in the 0's for Schaawe                  Alek.
