     It's a glorious idea to explore Canal Town Creek, it's close to Ruth Lake; Ruth Lake is a perfect site to visit for more than one day, Michigamme Shores Campground is a perfect site to camp nearby. You could also stop by Deer Lake while you're here at Ruth Lake; it's close by; dry warm beds await you at Best Western Baraga Lakeside Inn. For the duration of the summer here at Ruth Lake, high temperatures generally reach the 70's while overnight lows are mostly  
   in the 50's. For the duration of the winter the highs are usually in the 20's; nighttime lows in the 0's for Ruth Lake. You can run the rapids of Peshekee River near Ruth Lake.
Ruth Lake gets a normal amount of rainfall; most of the rain falls through September, and February meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. A lake close by is George Lake; Michigamme River is a wonderful whitewater spot nearby.

Craig Lake
This was a great time. A buddy of mine and I grabbed the canoe, tent, and fishing gear and headed out for a week. We overpacked, which made the reasonable portage quite difficult, though. After all the work, we were rewarded with a secluded island camp site about 30 minutes paddle from where we put in. I recommend this lake to anyone that likes to camp or fish. We caught a large number of Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass while we were there, and were quite sad to leave. However, Bring bug repellent.....The horseflies during the day strike fear into the hearts of most mortal men and you can skin the mosquitos to make a coat....

I have loved the Peshekee for over 63 years, watching rocks appear and disappear with the seasons. It's a special day when kayakers also appear, usually in early spring. I'm afraid the time for good kayaking is over for this year. Sorry! By the way, there are plenty of good motels in Marquette. ...
