It's a nice idea to explore Cedar River, it's next to Ross Lake; while you're here you will meet lots of folks from nearby Midland. Going for a hike along the Mosquito Alley Truck Trail will let you absorb the natural beauty of this area; if you need a location to stay Sleep Inn Midland is a magnificent choice. A typical amount of rain falls here at Ross Lake; most of the rain falls all through       September, and February is when it's the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking along the Guernsey Creek Trail is pleasant fun, and you can stay the night at Calhoun Campground. Summer brings highs in the 80's to Ross Lake, and the overnight is somewhat cooler of course, commonly in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and during the dark hours in the winter at Ross Lake temperatures dip to the 0's.
