     A lake close by is Fife Lake, and if you need a place to stay Econo Lodge Kalkaska is a good choice. High temperatures at Pickerel Lake all through the warm days of summer are in the 80's. Once the sun is down it descends down to the 50's. Highs through the wintertime are usually in the 20's; nighttime lows through the wintertime for Pickerel Lake tend to be in the 10's. You'll wish for more hours in a day to enjoy all the amusing stuff at Pickerel Lake. You  
   could also stop at Headquarters Lake while you're here at Pickerel Lake; it's close by. Pickerel Lake is a great location to visit for more than one day, Oak Grove Campground is a great location to camp nearby; a great nearby hotel is Grand Traverse Resort & Spa.
This lake is so wonderful. There's some flowing water nearby, Gould Creek is a stream you can pop by during your stay, and this is a popular spot for folks from Cadillac. You'll never forgive yourself
 
               if you don’t go skiing at Caberfae Peaks if you're here, and you can stay the night at Lake Billings Campgrounds. A common amount of rain falls here at Pickerel Lake; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and February is the month with the least moisture.

As it turned out it was by far the best camp site I had ever stayed in and had a great time. Our site happened to be next to the river with a great view, secluded and close to the river. I would highly recommend this campground for access to the pine river. Great canoeing, kayaking, fishing, etc. swimming...
