Kline's Resort Vacation is a magnificent campground nearby, and after a long day outdoors Quality Inn Kalamazoo is a nice spot to spend a night or two. Through the summer highs here at Pickerel Lake reach the 80's. Through the dark hours of summer temperatures dip down into the 50's. Throughout the wintertime this place gets highs in the 20's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Pickerel Lake temperatures descend to the 10's. This lake is so wonderful.
Dorrance Creek flows through this region, and enjoy a round of golf at Angels Crossing Golf Club. If you came for an overnight stay Oak Shores Resort Campground is a nice spot to camp; Indian Lake is a nearby lake that you could check out.
Pickerel Lake is a good site of common rain; most of the rain falls during September, and February meanwhile is the driest month. Dry warm beds await you at Econo Lodge Kalamazoo, and whitewater paddling is not for everyone

but if it's for you then, we recommend Kalamazoo River.
If you want a brilliant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Pickerel Lake. You'll meet a lot of people from Sturgis here, and if you get bored of Pickerel Lake you could also check out nearby Mud Lake.

Campbell Lake
i like to fish this lake in the winter time...

Hampton Lake
10 miles away
Can the general public access the lake or is it private for Greenspire residents?...Hampton lake is a public lake in Portage south of Centre street, about a 1/3 of a mile east of US 131.  It does not have a public access, I'm not even sure gas powered boats are allowed, but they're not needed because the lake is not very big.  But it is spring fed and DNR stocked so it is very clean and very good fishing.  I live in Greenspire Apartments which is partially on the lake and my roommate and I fish Hampton lake often. Row boats are available to rent in the office. ...

Omena Lake

Beautiful spring fed lake, clean and quiet....

Bittersweet
21 miles away
Bittersweet has enormous snow-making capacity and is consistently the first to open in SW Michigan. Their vertical is only 350 ft, but that's about 100 more than any other resort in SW Michigan. As noted, their lift system is impressive, particularly the high speed detachable quad, but lines can get a little long on late December weekends. Their terrain park has a good variety of boxes, jumps, etc. Very friendly people....Yea you guys rock i love the snow...Ahh yes, Bittersweet Ski Area... Michigan skiing at it's very best. The drops in these part of the country are not that impressive but I think Bittersweet makes the most of it. I do recommend this ski area....

Swiss Valley
27 miles away
3 PHOTOS
Swiss Valley is a great place to ski or snowboard, dedicated to keeping the terrain interesting and excellently groomed. Snowmaking and deicated staff also provide the best kept terrain parks in southwest Michigan. The facilities offer a full service restaurant with food, spirits and live enteratinment most weekends, a cafeteria, group gathering areas and a separate learning area.
Swiss Valley also has very affordable learn to ski and snowboard programs for the entire family....

it is pretty good...

Timber Ridge
28 miles away
It is not very big, but all of the employees are cool and you never have to wait in line to get on the lift. They sometimes seem to overestimate the amount of snow that they have also. I sometimes wonder if they actually measure the snowpiles that have been plowed in the parking lot instead of what is actually on the hill....
