At Pickerel Lake you always meet someone from Grand Rapids-Wyoming; a good place for whitewater paddling is Kalamazoo River. This lake is so wonderful. A golf course in the neighborhood of Pickerel Lake is Hidden Valley Golf Course; Pickerel Lake is a glorious site to visit for more than one day, Miller Lake Campground is a glorious site to camp nearby. | | spot to get some rest. From a rain point of view Pickerel Lake is a relatively normal place; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and the driest of the months is February.

the winter are normally in the 30's, and nighttime lows all through the winter for Pickerel Lake tend to be in the 10's.
Just can't get enough of Pickerel Lake. Do take a look at Bass Lake in the neighborhood of Pickerel Lake, it's a beautiful lake; a wonderful close by hotel is Baymont Inn and Suites Grand Rapids SW/Byron Center.

Barlow Lake
| Bob Dibble again: looking for the Palmer family and the Parker family that used to live at Barlow lake back in the 1950's. Bittersweet

Bittersweet has enormous snow-making capacity and is consistently the first to open in SW Michigan. Their vertical is only 350 ft, but that's about 100 more than any other resort in SW Michigan. As noted, their lift system is impressive, particularly the high speed detachable quad, but lines can get a little long on late December weekends. Their terrain park has a good variety of boxes, jumps, etc. Very friendly people....Yea you guys rock i love the snow...Ahh yes, Bittersweet Ski Area... Michigan skiing at it's very best. The drops in these part of the country are not that impressive but I think Bittersweet makes the most of it. I do recommend this ski area.... |

Fisk is a great lake to fish on. You must have a kayak or canoe to gain access through the channel that runs between Reeds and Fisk. Put your boat in on the West side of lakeside across from the dock at Reed's lake next to the municipal building. Have Fun... |

It is not very big, but all of the employees are cool and you never have to wait in line to get on the lift. They sometimes seem to overestimate the amount of snow that they have also. I sometimes wonder if they actually measure the snowpiles that have been plowed in the parking lot instead of what is actually on the hill.... |
