Michigamme Shores Campground is a great campground nearby, and lakes are such serene places, why not go to Trout Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Peshekee River. High temperatures at Lake Phillips through the months of summer are in the 70's while night lows are generally in the 50's. High temperatures during the wintertime are normally in the 20's; through the dark hours in the wintertime at Lake Phillips

This was a great time. A buddy of mine and I grabbed the canoe, tent, and fishing gear and headed out for a week. We overpacked, which made the reasonable portage quite difficult, though. After all the work, we were rewarded with a secluded island camp site about 30 minutes paddle from where we put in. I recommend this lake to anyone that likes to camp or fish. We caught a large number of Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass while we were there, and were quite sad to leave. However, Bring bug repellent.....The horseflies during the day strike fear into the hearts of most mortal men and you can skin the mosquitos to make a coat.... |
