If you need a location to stay Comfort Suites Grand Rapids North is a great choice, and a day on the slopes of Cannonsburg is just what you need. If you get bored of Pettit Lake, you could also pop by close by Croton Dam Pond, and don't leave Pettit Lake without first going for a hike along the Hungerford Cross Country Ski Trail. Why not camp at Croton Township Campground since you're here at Pettit Lake. For the period of the warm days of summer highs here

| | at Pettit Lake get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are generally in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Pettit Lake temperatures plunge to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Little Muskegon River is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at, and if you're interested in hydro structures, you can check out Croton Dam. You absolutely have to like | |

Pettit Lake. Camping is available at Croton Dam Float Trips, and Bills Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to. There are nice spots to explore along the Newaygo County Snowmobile Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn
BIG RAPIDS. Pettit Lake gets a typical amount of rain; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and February on the other hand is the driest.

Croton Dam Float Trips
 | 1 PHOTO ...ment rentals beginning May 1, 2009. Reservations highly recommended as we offer the lowest rates on the Muskegon River in the Newaygo Area for your river adventures.
Rustic Camping also available on a limited basis. As of April 15, 2009 we have two seasonal electric sites available for rent this season. Rate is $700. 00 for the year. Our camping rates nightly are $12. 00 for non-power sites and $15. 00 for electrical sites. No running water/hand pump. No dump station. Outhouses and porta- potties in the busy summer season.
Excellent smallmouth & largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye fishing on the backwaters to Croton Dam and also north about 5 miles on the backwaters of Hardy Dam. Spring steelhead runs, rainbow & german brown trout, and fall salmon runs down on the river itself below the dam.
We do not offer river services for the Little Muskegon River.
