If you get bored of Pettit Lake, you could also pop by close by Croton Dam Pond, and don't leave Pettit Lake without first going for a hike along the Hungerford Cross Country Ski Trail. Why not camp at Croton Township Campground since you're here at Pettit Lake. For the period of the warm days of summer highs here       at Pettit Lake get into the 80's. When the night sets in temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the period of the winter highs are generally in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Pettit Lake temperatures plunge to the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Little Muskegon River is one of the streams nearby that might be worth stopping at, and if you're interested in hydro structures, you can check out Croton Dam. You absolutely have to like                  Pettit Lake. Camping is available at Croton Dam Float Trips, and Bills Lake is a nearby lake that you could go to. There are nice spots to explore along the Newaygo County Snowmobile Trail, and dry warm beds await you at Holiday Inn BIG RAPIDS.
