Most of the pond lies on private land while the a small portion butts up to a state park accessable by boat from East Grand Taverse Bay. The shallow lake often connects to the bay by a small stream, usually on private land but occasionally meandering onto the parkland. Small panfish often flourish in spring and fall but the pond often becomes to warm in the summer. Carp have also been sited.

Why not stop by Petobego Pond if you're passing through these parts. Getting to Tobeco Creek from Petobego Pond is easy, and skiing at Shanty Creek is one of those things you just have to do. At Petobego Pond throughout the summer highs are in the 80's. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's. Daytime highs during the wintertime are in the 20's; nighttime lows in the 10's for Petobego Pond. This lake is so wonderful. A tremendous place to camp here at Petobego

Elk Rapids Golf Course is a golf course near Petobego Pond. Petobego Pond gets a typical amount of annual rainfall; most of the rain falls during September, and February is the month with the least moisture. You can take a little spree to Petabego Dam while you're here at Petobego Pond, and after a long day outdoors Sleep Inn Acme is a delightful site to spend a night or two.

So much amusing stuff close to Petobego Pond, definitely incredible. Whitewater paddling is splendid on Boardman River, and Grand Traverse Resort & Spa is a good spot to get some rest. Camping is available at Vacation Village; you should stop by East Arm Grand Traverse Bay when you're here.
