What a nice lake Penny Lake is. This lake is so wonderful. Penny Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Michigamme Shores Campground is a fine local campground, and you'll meet a lot of people from Marquette here. Dry warm beds await you at Marquette-Days Inn. All through the days of summer at Penny Lake temperatures are regularly in the 70's, and the night is fairly colder of course, typically in the 50's. | | winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Penny Lake. After a long day outdoors Best Western Country Inn is a good site to spend a night or two, and you can run the rapids of Yellow Dog River. Penny Lake gets a typical amount of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is September; February is when it's the driest. If you came to camp Country Village RV Park is a splendid place to do that, and there's great hiking along the Holyoke Trail.
