Penny Lake is fine enough to spend more than a day at, Michigamme Shores Campground is a fine local campground, and you'll meet a lot of people from Marquette here. Dry warm beds await you at Marquette-Days Inn. All through the days of summer at Penny Lake temperatures are regularly in the 70's, and the night is fairly colder of course, typically in the 50's. The winter comes with highs in the 20's, and       winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Penny Lake. After a long day outdoors Best Western Country Inn is a good site to spend a night or two, and you can run the rapids of Yellow Dog River. Penny Lake gets a typical amount of rainfall; the month with most of the rain is September; February is when it's the driest.
