A trip to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is recommended; Ostrander Lake is splendid enough to spend more than a day at, Hiawatha Resort and Campground is a splendid local campground. For the duration of the summer highs here at Ostrander Lake get into the 70's. Once the sun is down it plunges       down to the 50's. Highs throughout the winter are mostly in the 20's with temperatures at Ostrander Lake dipping down into the 0's throughout winter nights. If you need a spot to stay AmericInn Munising is a perfect choice, and whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then, we recommend Au Train River. So much amusing stuff right next door to Ostrander Lake, just astonishing. Near Ostrander Lake you hit upon the Big Island Lake Portage Canoe                  Trail which is a splendid hiking trail, and camping at Wide Water Campground is always a tremendous experience. An average amount of precipitation falls at Ostrander Lake; all through the month of September you get the most rain around here, and the driest month is February. Going for a hike on the Haywire Grade ORV Trail is always a good adventure. This lake is so wonderful.
