For the period of the summertime here at Orchid Lake, high temperatures commonly get into the 70's, and all through summer nights temperatures are in the 50's. Daytime highs all through the winter are in the 10's, and nighttime lows during the wintertime for Orchid Lake tend to be in the-10's. stop at Osprey Creek. If you want a pleasant time in the great outdoors, just come on down to Orchid Lake. Camping is available at Presque Isle Campground, and if you come at the right time of year, Presque Isle offers some brilliant
whitewater. The amount of precipitation that falls at Orchid Lake is close to the national average; August is the month that gets the most rain, and February meanwhile is the driest month. This lake is so wonderful. A wonderful site
to camp here at Orchid Lake is Henry Lake Campground; after a long day outdoors Comfort Inn Minocqua is a wonderful location to spend a night or two.

Armour Lake
 | My aunt and uncle, Della and Deac Vilutis, owned the resort in the 50's and early 60's. I have many memories if my dad and I fishing on all those lakes. It was truly a beautiful area to grow up in....The lake is spring fed and is connected to Horsehead lake via river and also to North Crab lake and Crab lake. Walleye, large mouth bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike and sunfish are native to this lake. The lake is 355 acres which host Bill's Island, a public campground that is accessable via boat/canoe. There is one state owned access to this lake on the north side. Many years ago, Armour Lake Resort had been built by my great, great uncle and then owned in the early 40's by my parents who are now both deceased. The resort has since been purchased as a private residence. As a child growing up we have some wonderful memories about this beautiful, spring fed lake. I miss it.... |
