If you need a spot to stay Treetops Resort is a perfect choice, and if you don't mind getting soaked, you can always go whitewater paddling on Ocqueoc River. Muskellunge Lake is a good site of typical rainfall; September is the wettest month with most rain, and February is when it's the driest. During the months of summer at Muskellunge Lake highs are generally in the 80's; the night is fairly colder of course, mostly in the 40's. For the period of the wintertime
this place gets highs in the 20's, and night lows in the 0's for Muskellunge Lake. Some of the water close by flows, like Packer Creek, and you'll find a beautiful lake called Pug Lakes.
For you golfers we recommend close by Elk Ridge Golf Course. This lake is so wonderful. If you came to camp Shady Acres Campground is a delightful place to do that, and do stop by Clear Lake, it's a striking lake.

Island Lake

I have fished this lake for bluegills and have had great success. Some of the bluegills were 9 1/2 inches long. The water is very clear requiring 2 to 4 pound test line. Use half crawler with a small hook, #6, with a small split shot or at times no weight. Fish the deeper water by drifting until you find the fish then anchor. There are largemouth bass in this lake but they run undersize at around 11 to 12 inches. I used an electric motor to get around. The lake is small enough that you can row with your oars. During the spawning season, mid June, I fished the shoreline around the lake and caught the gills on their spawning beds. I have limited out many days fishing this lake with some nice size bluegills. I hand launched a boat at the camp ground there which charges a daily fee and parked in the parking lot....
