Paddling on Brule River is so much fun, and Mud Lake is good enough to spend more than a day at, Rivers Bend Campground is a good local campground. Lindstrom Creek is next to Mud Lake and is always a delight to stop at; a brilliant close by hotel is Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites IRON MOUNTAIN. Crystal Lake is a wonderful lake close to Mud Lake, and playing golf is lots of fun at Timberstone Golf Course. At Mud Lake you always meet someone from Iron Mountain,

This lake is so wonderful. Americas Best Inns-Iron Mountain is a great spot to get some rest. Throughout the long summer days highs here at Mud Lake get into the 70's. Summer night lows descend down to the 50's. Daytime highs through the wintertime are in the 20's, and through the dark hours in the winter at Mud Lake temperatures plunge to the-10's. Mud Lake rocks! Lakes are such serene spots, why not check out Chapin Mine close to Mud Lake, and Menominee River has a splendid whitewater paddling spot nearby.
Mud Lake gets a normal amount of annual rain; of all the months
in a year September is the one with the most rain, and February on the other hand is the driest. This lake is so wonderful. Norway Mountain is a pleasant local ski area; Pine Mountain is a peak you can catch a glimpse of from Mud Lake.
