Life's too short to enjoy all the enjoyable things in the vicinity of Mud Lake. Get yourself into a kayak and hit Au Train River, and there is a splendid hiking trail close by called the Bay De Noe Grand Island Trail. There are good locations to discover along the Chatham Ski Trail; dry warm beds await you at Escanaba MI Travelodge. This lake is so wonderful. If you came for an overnight stay Vagabond       Resort and Campground is a tremendous place to camp, and if you come at the right time of year, Escanaba River offers some glorious whitewater. There are plenty of people from Escanaba here at Mud Lake, and the snow is perfect at Gladstone Ski Park. High temperatures at Mud Lake during the summertime are in the 70's. During the dark hours of summer temperatures drop down into the 50's. The cold days of the wintertime come with highs in the 20's, and night                  lows in the 10's for Mud Lake. From a precipitation point of view Mud Lake is a rather typical place; of all the months in a year September is the one with the most rain; February on the other hand is the driest. Camping is available at Whispering Valley Campground, and after a long day outdoors Super 8 Motel - Escanaba is a perfect place to spend a night or two.
