There is a great hiking trail near Moosehead Lake called the Alligator Eye Trail, and Black Bear Lodge is a fine place to get some rest. Camping is available at Moosehead Lake Campground, and you can run the rapids of Ontonagon River. Just can't get enough of Moosehead Lake. Why not camp at Pomeroy Lake Campground since you're here at Moosehead Lake. Nearby lakes? Sure, Little Presque Isle Lake is close to Moosehead Lake, and a nice nearby hotel is Comfort Inn

Moosehead Lake gets a typical amount of precipitation; throughout the month of August you get the most rain around here, and the driest of the months is February. Summertime highs at Moosehead Lake mostly tend to be in the 70's, and during the night it cools down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 10's, and all through the dark hours in the wintertime at Moosehead Lake temperatures fall to the-10's. This lake is so wonderful. | |

Armour Lake
| My aunt and uncle, Della and Deac Vilutis, owned the resort in the 50's and early 60's. I have many memories if my dad and I fishing on all those lakes. It was truly a beautiful area to grow up in....The lake is spring fed and is connected to Horsehead lake via river and also to North Crab lake and Crab lake. Walleye, large mouth bass, Muskellunge, Northern Pike and sunfish are native to this lake. The lake is 355 acres which host Bill's Island, a public campground that is accessable via boat/canoe. There is one state owned access to this lake on the north side. Many years ago, Armour Lake Resort had been built by my great, great uncle and then owned in the early 40's by my parents who are now both deceased. The resort has since been purchased as a private residence. As a child growing up we have some wonderful memories about this beautiful, spring fed lake. I miss it.... |
