If you're here at Miners Lake, you could go to Miners River, and there are splendid spots to look at along the Lakeshore Trail. This lake is so wonderful. Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a tremendous local destination here at Miners Lake, and a wonderful nearby hotel is Comfort Inn Munising. A common amount of precipitation falls here at Miners Lake; during September this area sees the most rain, and February is when it's the driest.

The beauty of mother nature reveals herself at Miners Falls, and Miners Lake is glorious enough to spend more than a day at, Mosquito Beach Campground is a glorious local campground. Through the warm days of summer highs here at Miners Lake get into the 70's while overnight lows are commonly in the 50's. Throughout the winter highs are commonly in the 20's;
winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Miners Lake. You feel that's enough? Just getting warmed up. Not far from Miners Lake you find Miners Castle Point; Two Lakes is a pleasant lake nearby. Go for a hike on the Big Island Lake Portage Canoe Trail. Lakes? Sure, Swamp Lake is in close proximity.

Valley Spur Ski Trail

Valley Spur, a favorite Alger County destination of many dedicated cross country skiers, hikers, and mountain bike enthusiasts, is located on M-94 approximately 4 miles south of Munising, Michigan in the Hiawatha National Forest. The 27 mile (45 km) cross country ski trail system is groomed daily or as the need arises from December through April so that the trails are always ready. All trails are groomed for both skate and classic ski. Down hill trails are designed with run out and good sight distance keeping safety in mind. Valley Spur sports a deep snow base getting heavy accumulations from the lake effect snows off Lake Superior which make for a truly unique skiing and snowshoeing experience.... |
