Do go to Guilford Lake in the vicinity of Marlbed Lake, it's a delightful lake, and camping at Hale Plainfield Township park Campground and Picnic Area is always a good experience. For the duration of the summer at Marlbed Lake temperatures are frequently in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. The wintertime comes with highs in the 20's while the cold winter nights at Marlbed Lake are in the 0's. River Lakes is a nearby lake that you could check out. This lake is so

| | wonderful. A round of golf at nearby Wicker Hills Golf Club is a great way to kill some time, and why not a little side trip to Harper Creek. Marlbed Lake is a good site of normal rainfall; the month with most of the rain is August, and the driest of the months is February. After a long day outdoors Econo Lodge Inn & Suites is a tremendous place to spend a night or two, and a splendid place to camp here at Marlbed Lake is Rollways Campground. | |

Island Lake
 | 19 miles away I have fished this lake for bluegills and have had great success. Some of the bluegills were 9 1/2 inches long. The water is very clear requiring 2 to 4 pound test line. Use half crawler with a small hook, #6, with a small split shot or at times no weight. Fish the deeper water by drifting until you find the fish then anchor. There are largemouth bass in this lake but they run undersize at around 11 to 12 inches. I used an electric motor to get around. The lake is small enough that you can row with your oars. During the spawning season,mid June, I fished the shoreline around the lake and caught the gills on their spawning beds. I have limited out many days fishing this lake with some nice size bluegills. I hand launched a boat at the camp ground there which charges a daily fee and parked in the parking lot.... |
