A good nearby hotel is Budget Host Sunset Motel. This lake is so wonderful. Lakes are wonderful; Dumont Lake is a lake that's near Little Spec Lake. You'll need more than a day to look at everything | |

Little Spec Lake has to offer, you can camp at Dumont Lake Campground. You can run the rapids of Kalamazoo River in close proximity to Little Spec Lake, and Timber Ridge is a fine local ski area.
This is a tremendous region for
people who like lakes. Big Spec Lake is a lake in the neighborhood; an afternoon playing golf at Diamond Springs Golf Course is always a pleasure. The annual precipitation here at Little Spec Lake is about average; the month with most of the rain is September; the driest month of the year is February.

It is not very big, but all of the employees are cool and you never have to wait in line to get on the lift. They sometimes seem to overestimate the amount of snow that they have also. I sometimes wonder if they actually measure the snowpiles that have been plowed in the parking lot instead of what is actually on the hill.... |
Bittersweet

Bittersweet has enormous snow-making capacity and is consistently the first to open in SW Michigan. Their vertical is only 350 ft, but that's about 100 more than any other resort in SW Michigan. As noted, their lift system is impressive, particularly the high speed detachable quad, but lines can get a little long on late December weekends. Their terrain park has a good variety of boxes, jumps, etc. Very friendly people....Yea you guys rock i love the snow...Ahh yes, Bittersweet Ski Area... Michigan skiing at it's very best. The drops in these part of the country are not that impressive but I think Bittersweet makes the most of it. I do recommend this ski area.... |
