A visit to Laakso Lake is always a good idea. Au Train River has a fine whitewater paddling spot close by, and if you need a site to stay Northwoods Retreat is a glorious choice. Now, you may assume that's a heap but there's even more amusing stuff to do here at Laakso Lake. Paddling on Chocolay River is so much fun; tremendous hiking is available along the Chatham Ski Trail. | | local trail, and naturally South Branch Slapneck Creek is a pretty stream that is worth checking out.
This lake is so wonderful. Why not take a refreshing hike along the Bay De Noe Grand Island Trail, and camping at Laughing Whitefish Campground is always a perfect experience. Very lovely scenery and brilliant skiing is what you get at Gladstone Ski Park; camping is available at Au Train Lake Campground.
