From a rainfall point of view Kontio Lake is a rather common site; September is when you get the most rain here; February meanwhile is the driest month. Good hiking is available along the Pelkie Creek Hunter Walking Trails; whitewater paddling is nice on Silver River. This lake is so wonderful. An afternoon playing golf at L'Anse Golf Club is always a diversion, and if you need a location to stay Budget Host Inn Houghton       is a fine choice. There's some flowing water close by, Daults Creek is a stream you can explore while here. Dry warm beds await you at Best Western Baraga Lakeside Inn, and Tioga River has a pleasant whitewater paddling spot nearby. High temperatures at Kontio Lake through the summertime are in the 70's, and the night is a tad colder of course, ordinarily in the 50's.
