     After a long day outdoors Woodland Motor Lodge is a good place to spend a night or two, and Karen Lake is not the only site close by, Bright Lake is a close by lake. An average amount of precipitation falls at Karen Lake; the month with most of the rain is September, and the driest month is February. Skyline Ski Slide is a very popular ski area close at hand, and if you need a place to stay AuSable Valley Hotel and Conference Center is a great choice. Be careful  
   coming to Karen Lake, you might not ever want to go back home again. Hit the slopes at Hanson Hills nearby.
High temperatures at Karen Lake throughout the long summer days are in the 80's with night lows in the 50's. For the duration of the winter this place gets highs in the 20's; winter nights come with lows in the 0's to Karen Lake. If you came for an overnight stay River Pond Campground is a pleasant place to camp; since you're here and you like golf, you
 
               can have a look at Grayling Country Club. This lake is so wonderful. Why not camp at River Park Campgrounds and Pond if you're here at Karen Lake; if you've had enough of Karen Lake, Bear Lake is nearby.

Twenty-three downhill runs wind their way through the majestic hardwood forest that covers the 400-acre winter park. Snowboarders are welcome at Treetops. They are allowed on the entire ski area and have a new terrain park with 12 features for their own private use.The new terrain park contains 2 flat 10' beginner rails as well as a 20' intermediate round rail. There are some challenging additions such as a beginner 16' battle ship kinked rail as well as a 16' intermediate rainbow rail. In addition, there are man-made and natural jib features such as barrels, and logs that can be used to slide or jump over or tap with skis or boards. Nordic enthusiasts will find the ''Midwest's best terrain'' for cross-country skiing. The 12 km of groomed and tracked trails are all clearly marked and range in difficulty from beginner to expert.
