Bear Lake is a splendid lake next to Johnsons Lake, and Johnsons Lake is a fine location to camp, Rapid River Campground is a fine location. If you need a location to stay Whispering Pines Resort is a good choice, and Kalkaska County Log Lake Park is a splendid campground here. The yearly precipitation here at Johnsons Lake is about average; the month of September is the wettest with most of the rain, and the       driest month of the year is February. This lake is so wonderful. A fine close by hotel is Grayling Days Inn, and a day on the slopes of Hanson Hills is just what you need. The skiing at Skyline Ski Slide is great. The warmest time of the year brings highs in the 80's to Johnsons Lake, and the overnight is rather cooler of course, generally in the 50's.
