There's no such thing as a bad day of skiing at nearby Norway Mountain, and get your heart pumping on the perfect whitewater of Pike River. You'll stumble       on a striking lake called Lake Mary near Johnson Lake, and if you need a place to stay Country Inn & Suites By Carlson, Iron Mountain, MI is a delightful choice. Johnson Lake is a good spot of normal rain; the month with most of the rain is September, and the driest of the months is February. And if that's not enough, there's plenty more to do right next door to Johnson Lake. Whitewater paddling is not for everybody but if it's for you then we recommend Menominee                  River, and camping is available at Stephenson Motel. A fine place to camp here at Johnson Lake is Shakey Lakes Park, and why not a little side trip to Little Shakey Creek. This lake is so wonderful. All through the summer here at Johnson Lake, high temperatures ordinarily get into the 80's. For the period of the moonlight hours it's generally in the 50's.
