John Ford Lake is a nice location to visit for more than one day, Parks and Recreation Dept is a nice location to camp nearby, and getting to Brooks Creek from John Ford Lake is easy. This lake is so wonderful. Hiking is a popular thing to do around John Ford Lake; Hungerford Cross Country Ski Trail is a magnificent local trail, and lakes are such peaceful places, why not stop by Emerald Lake. You'll need more than a day to discover everything John Ford Lake

Excellent smallmouth & largemouth bass, northern pike, and walleye fishing on the backwaters to Croton Dam and also north about 5 miles on the backwaters of Hardy Dam. Spring steelhead runs, rainbow & german brown trout, and fall salmon runs down on the river itself below the dam.
We do not offer river services for the Little Muskegon River.
