Humphries: Hunt Lake is a beautiful private lake with an abundance of wildlife, wetlands, as well as fisheries resources. It is only 10 acres in size, however, it is known for its' abundance and large sized Northern Pike. Access is completely private and may not be accessed without private land owner's permission. Cielo Nature Sanctuary is a private nature sanctuary located on the North and East sections of the lake which enhance its' importance as a habitat for fisheries, wildlife, and waterfowl. During the summer months at Hunt Lake temperatures are typically in the 80's. Once the sun is down it plunges down to the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's, and after the sun is down during the winter temperatures at Hunt Lake drop into the 0's. This lake is so wonderful. Playing golf is lots of fun at Katke Golf Course, and a great nearby hotel is Country Inn & Suites By Carlson,       Big Rapids, Mi. Hunt Lake gets a normal amount of rain; the month with most of the rain is September while February is the month with the least amount of precipitation. Do pop by Bergess Lake in the vicinity of Hunt Lake, it's a delightful lake, and after a long day outdoors Big Rapids Super 8 Motel is a fine place to spend a night or two. While you're here at Hunt Lake, you could also stop at striking Clear Lake, and if you're here, you could have a look                  at Higginson Creek. What a place this is for outdoors folks. You'll need more than a day to look at everything Hunt Lake has to offer, you can camp at Paris Park, and going for a hike on the Hungerford Cross Country Ski Trail is always a wonderful adventure. You're sure to bump into some smiling folks from Big Rapids here.
