This lake is so wonderful. Americas Best Value Inn - Wetmore is a great place to get some rest, and since you're here you can take a hike along the Big Island Lake Portage Canoe Trail. Through the summertime at Hughes Lake highs are generally in the 70's. All through the dark hours of summer temperatures fall down into the 50's. For the duration of the winter       the highs are usually in the 20's, and nighttime lows at Hughes Lake during the winter regularly sink into the 0's. So many entertaining things to do at Hughes Lake, so little time. There's so much to do here at Hughes Lake that you need to camp here for a while, Indian Lake Travel Resort is a magnificent place for that; if you have time, Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is a national park worth a visit. Minerva Lake is a glorious lake near Hughes Lake,                  and on a fine day you can take a hike along the Valley Spur Ski Trail. A pretty lake like Three Island Lake in the vicinity of Hughes Lake is a good place to stop by. From a rainfall point of view Hughes Lake is a rather typical site; September is when you get the most rain here, and February is when it's the driest.
