     A tremendous close by hotel is Super 8 West Branch. Lakes? Sure, Redhead Lake is close at hand. The amount of rainfall that falls at Hughes Lake is close to the national average; throughout August this area sees the most rain; the driest month is February. Stay the night at Rollways Campground, and not far from Hughes Lake you'll find O'Brien Lake which is a pretty lake. Summer at Hughes Lake arrives with high temperatures in the 80's. When the night sets in
temperatures sink down into the 50's. The wintertime brings highs down to the 20's; nighttime lows in the 0's for Hughes Lake.
This lake is so wonderful. Hale Plainfield Township park Campground and Picnic Area is a good campground nearby.

I was just at Cranberry Lake on July 7, 2007. It was beautiful. I went fishing and caught many fish. I also went jet sking, paddle-boating, on a pontoon boat and fished off the dock. The view was amaizing, espcially the sunset. I loved it here and can't wait to come back....

I have fished this lake for bluegills and have had great success. Some of the bluegills were 9 1/2 inches long. The water is very clear requiring 2 to 4 pound test line. Use half crawler with a small hook, #6, with a small split shot or at times no weight. Fish the deeper water by drifting until you find the fish then anchor. There are largemouth bass in this lake but they run undersize at around 11 to 12 inches. I used an electric motor to get around. The lake is small enough that you can row with your oars. During the spawning season,mid June, I fished the shoreline around the lake and caught the gills on their spawning beds. I have limited out many days fishing this lake with some nice size bluegills. I hand launched a boat at the camp ground there which charges a daily fee and parked in the parking lot....
